JKSSB Constable Recruitment 2024: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released an official notification (Advertisement Notification No. 01 of 2024) for the recruitment of Constables in the J&K Police, Home Department. Eligibility Criteria
Domicile
Candidates applying for the constable posts must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. A valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority must be obtained before the cut-off date (August 29, 2024).
Age Limit
As of January 1, 2024, the age requirements for different categories are as follows:
Open Merit (OM): 18 to 28 years
SC/ST/RBA/ALC/IB/OBC/EWS: 18 to 28 years
In-Service Police Personnel: 18 to 30 years
Government Service/Contractual Employment: 18 to 28 years
SPOs and Volunteer Home Guards (VHGs): 18 to 40 years
Candidates must have been born between January 1, 1996, and January 1, 2006, except for specific categories where the age range may vary.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess the educational qualifications specified in Annexure-A of the notification. They must produce the original certificates during document verification, proving they have acquired the prescribed qualifications before the cut-off date.

Application Process
Eligible candidates must apply online through the official JKSSB website http://www.jkssb.nic.in from July 30, 2024, to August 29, 2024. The application fee is Rs. 700 for general category candidates and Rs. 600 for SC/ST/EWS candidates. The fee is payable online via net banking, credit, or debit cards.

Selection Procedure
The selection process for JKSSB Constable Recruitment 2024 includes the following stages:
- Written Test
- Physical Standards Test (PST)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Final Merit list.

Written Examination
The written exam will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions.
There will be negative marking; 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
The questions will be set in English only.
Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates must meet the following physical standards:
For Male Candidates: Height 5’6″ (minimum), Chest 32″ (unexpanded), 33½” (expanded)
For Female Candidates: Height 5’2″ (minimum)
Candidates belonging to the Gorkha community and Bot Tribe have a relaxation of 2 inches in height.
Physical Endurance Test (PET)
For Male Candidates:
Long Race: 1600 meters in 6 minutes 30 seconds
Pushups: 20 (one cycle of up and down to be counted as one)
For Female Candidates:
Long Race: 1000 meters in 6 minutes
For Ex-Servicemen: Relaxations in physical endurance tests as per specific provisions.
Reservation and Horizontal Reservation
The reservation policy is applicable as per the Jammu & Kashmir Reservation Act/Rules, and candidates must possess valid category certificates by the cut-off date. Horizontal reservation applies to categories like Ex-Servicemen (6%) and women (15%) in non-gazetted ranks. Special provisions exist for SPOs and Volunteer Home Guards with a minimum of three years of engagement.
